What Prime Big Deal Days Should Tell You Before Black Friday

October promotions leave teams with plenty of numbers. The useful part is deciding what those numbers change.

Amazon’s 2026 Prime Big Deal Days runs October 6 and 7. As the event wraps, brands have an opportunity to turn a short sales window into a sharper holiday operating plan. That means bringing media, inventory, content, and margin into the same conversation.

Start with what you actually kept

A revenue spike can look great while leaving very little behind. Before calling a promotion successful, build a view of contribution after product cost, discounts, marketplace fees, fulfillment, and advertising. Account for expected returns where you have a reasonable basis to estimate them.

Compare that view with an ordinary trading period, and flag what makes the comparison imperfect. A deeper discount, stronger placement, or a stockout can change the story. Event performance is evidence to investigate, not a clean forecast for November.

Find the products that earned more support

Review priority products individually. Which converted when traffic increased? Which needed a steep discount to move? Which attracted shoppers but failed to turn interest into orders?

Those are different problems. Strong conversion with healthy contribution may justify more support. Traffic without conversion calls for a closer look at the offer, availability, reviews, and product page. Selling through an item faster than you can replenish it calls for an inventory decision before a budget increase.

Fix the questions your product page left open

Use customer questions, recent reviews, and search behavior to identify missing information. Check whether images clearly communicate size, quantity, compatibility, and what arrives in the box. Make sure the variation selected matches the images and copy shoppers see.

Give the creative team a specific brief. “Improve the page” is not one. “Show the actual package contents and make the size difference between the two variants obvious” is.

Build the November plan with operations in the room

For each holiday priority, put the expected demand, available inventory, replenishment timing, promotional price, and media budget side by side. Agree on the conditions that would change the plan. A delayed shipment or weaker contribution should trigger a decision, not sit in a separate spreadsheet until the next meeting.

Keep the first debrief short and concrete. Leave with three lists: products to support, issues to fix, and assumptions to test. Every action needs an owner and a deadline. Revisit the early read as attribution and returns develop.

The work after the event matters

The brands best prepared for the next peak will be the ones that turn October learning into better execution. A clean recap is useful. A corrected product page, a realistic inventory plan, and a better budget decision are worth more.

At Voyageur Group, we connect those decisions across the retail business. Let’s talk about your holiday plan.
